Huan is the echoing sound of a voice chanting at an ancestral rite. The ruler stands in the wilderness on the platform/altar of his ancestors. He reports new births and the victories of his clan. The changes referred to here are not the changes we make personally, but the changes that come in a surprising, nearly overwhelming shape and scale-like a flood.

Auspices

Huan is generally favorable and associated with getting rid of the old and bringing in the new. It is the refreshment that comes from deep and honest spiritual revelation.

Good for sea travel, funerals, marriage, and family matters.

Bad for lawsuits, distraction, and equivocating.

Comment

Huan represents the natural floods that come from time to time. If we can learn to bob and float with them, we will soon be able to plant in the rich soil deposits they bring. Huan speaks of the sometimes unpredictable partnership we have with Heaven. The wisdom of Huan is found in learning to survive. Huan may purge us or bring losses (sacrifice), but it also brings gifts--new and renewed resources. If we are relaxed, we float and, in the end, are left on high, dry, and fertile ground.
