Image

Da You refers to a year of abundant harvests. It is the image of the bright and pervasive summer sun bringing everything to maximum growth. In financial matters it is specifically about appropriate generosity, fiscal responsibility, and successful asset management.

Auspices

Through good management, prosperity is established and, through generosity, prosperity is translated into great benefit.

Good for saving and spending, marriage, travel, moving home, gift giving, and investing.
Bad for extravagance, miserliness, and pretense.
Comment

The Zhouyi does not suggest that great wealth is a measure of great success; indeed, it warns about the (psychological/social) burdens that accompany both the desire for and acquisition of wealth and power.

Acquisition leads to loss, if you are not generous. The Zhouyi philosophy of wealth is that it should circulate through honesty, modesty, and cooperation. Prosperity only becomes a great benefit through timely and graceful spending. It is important to manage true and lasting wealth (qi) without being trapped or distracted by the ephemeral value of its material symbols.
