Punishment may be used to teach the immature. They are shackled then unshackled.

When taking responsibility for the education of the inexperienced, you may use punishment or discipline to instruct. Shackled means disciplined or warned. Unshackled means punished and released.

9 :: second

To embrace the immature brings good fortune. Your children get married.

Teach your children, students or apprentices well. Caring for children, unmarried boys and girls, guarantees the harmony and continuity of a family and society.

6 :: third

A match made for the wrong reasons. Misfortune.

The worse sort of immature person ambitiously seeks personal advantage, pleasure and/or wealth. Uniting with people who have such unenlightened motives brings misfortune and disappointment.

9 :: fourth

Surrounded by immaturity. Disaster.

Trapped or confined by ignorance your action or indolence leads to disaster. Naturally held back by ignorance and inexperience is one thing, but continuing in or cultivating such a negative condition is disastrous. Disassociate yourself from those who are selfish and small-minded and cut your losses!

True innocence. Auspicious.

True innocence is rewarded. There is a natural power to immaturity. Your honest humility and willingness to learn attracts mentors.

Correcting immaturity. Changing a thief into a guardian.

The application of discipline and education to an anti-social person has favorable and transforming results. A reformed criminal becomes an excellent police detective.

Meng describes the uneven natural growth and maturation of people and sit-uations. It is about the potential value and the inherent problems that define immaturity. Meng refers to a young person, a kind of juvenile delinquent or inspirational stage of an unformed situation.

It also refers to a well-spring, a kind of parasitic plant (possibly used as a magic charm) or a new plant covered over with brambles.

Auspices

What is unformed has great potential but it also lacks clarity-so success, even progress, is difficult. It is unfavorable for those who are anxious and impulsive. People of limited capacity may miscalculate their ability to make use of an opportunity. Read the advice patiently and do not consult the Zhouyi again on this matter. Meng is often divined when you are obsessed and anxious about something.

Good for discipline, education, cleaning house, editing possessions, and gardening.

Bad for traveling abroad, family harmony, and making your case.

Comment

In the emergence of life, qi patterns form and magnetize the accumulation of substance that creates form. The environment responds to all newly formed patterns and initiates development and accumulation of form. Meng is about the natural reciprocity that gives all beings and things their shape. As shape slowly develops roots must grow and spread.

When immature people develop clarity and stamina, take counsel from the wise and learn how to learn, they grow strong. Reaching maturity they provide the vitality and inspiration of a successful team, family or society. Self-cultivation and education develop a formative youth into a good citizen and/ or a potentially wise leader. It is important not to mistake good luck or chance for success, skill or wisdom.
